Legendary Los Angeles punks X and rock icons Los Lobos were one-time labelmates on Slash Records. Now, they're joining forces in a whole new way: the bands will embark on a co-headlining North American tour together this year, which is set to include a single Canadian performance in Toronto come September.
"[Forty-eight] years is a long time. [Fifty-one] years, even longer," Los Lobos' Louis Pérez Jr. said in a release. "But 99 years combined is an insane number for two rock and roll bands and with the same lineup? Unheard of. That's what we got going this year when Los Lobos team up with our good amigos X for our very first American tour together. Sounds like a celebration and everybody is invited."
X's Exene Cervenka added, "This is a dream come true for me. We're taking the '70s and '80s punk roots of L.A. both east and west all over the country. TOGETHER! 99 years and still going strong. Let's have a party!"
The 99 Years of Rock n' Roll Tour gets underway starting this summer with concerts in Denver, Salt Lake City and Santa Ana. After a six-week break, things pick back up again on September 19 at Toronto's Massey Hall. From there, the bands will complete the remainder of the dates stateside, wrapping the run on November 22 in Houston, TX.
