Even as the seasons change, the music doesn't stop for the Winnipeg Folk Festival, as organizers have unveiled the artists set to play their fall concert series.
This October and November, a series of festival favourites and exciting folk talents perform in a series of venues around the city, including the Burton Cummings Theatre, the Park Theatre and Centennial Concert Hall.
Winnipeg Folk Festival's October programming slate begins with a headlining performance from Dan Mangan, who delivered Polaris Music Prize-shortlisted sixth album Being Somewhere last October. As it's a part of Mangan's Canadian tour, the October 5 performance will see support from Gabrielle Shonk, who shared sophomore LP Across the Room at the top of this year.
The month will also see JUNO-nominated eight-piece Five Alarm Funk burn up the stage of the Park Theatre on October 27, ahead of welcoming Jeremy Dutcher to the stage the following evening (October 28), weeks after the release of his anticipated sophomore album Motewolonuwok.
Moving into November, Moontricks play the Park Theatre on November 3, returning to the venue after playing two sold-out shows last fall. Their performance comes ahead of a November 9 engagement Loreena McKennitt, the acclaimed provincial native who needs little introduction after taking her eclectic Celtic music from Manitoba to the world.
Closing out the month, the Burton Cummings Theatre will welcome friends and collaborators Boy Golden, FONTINE and Kris Ulrich to the stage on November 24 for a hometown show as part of his 2023 North American tour.
Tickets for the Winnipeg Folk Festival's fall concert series are on sale now, and can be purchased online or in-person at the festival's office.
Looking ahead to winter, a press release teases the Winnipeg Folk Festival's 2024 concert series featuring talents including William Prince, the Paper Kites, Martin Sexton and more to come.
