Dan Mangan has announced plans for his sixth studio album Being Somewhere, out October 28 via Arts & Crafts.
The follow-up to 2020's Thief is said to "[arm] the rebels in the crusade for tenderness," having been created remotely with collaborator/producer Drew Brown through "571 emails, 100+ hours on the phone and thousands of text messages."
Mangan elaborated on the long-distance process in a statement:
The hard part was waiting; sometimes it took six weeks to resolve an issue that could have taken twenty minutes had we been together in a room. But Drew's dedication and talent cannot be understated, and this music doesn't sound like anything else I'm hearing these days.
Mangan added: "These songs are tenderhearted and unfurl like an overdue conversation with a dear friend. They essentially lay out where we're at, how I'm doing, and how I think I can help."
Today, the singer-songwriter shares the record's piano-led new single "Just Know It" — the third song to be released from the record following "Fire Escape" and "In Your Corner (For Scott Hutchison)" — about "shooting yourself in the foot, told from the foot's perspective."
Listen to that below, where you'll also find the album's tracklisting.
