It's been six months since the Weeknd exploded onto the blogosphere with his highly acclaimed House of Balloons mixtape, but the Toronto crooner known as Abel Tesfaye is still shrouded in mystery. But we might get a better idea about the artist when he drops the first official visual from his debut mixtape.
We've already seen several unofficial clips from the collection, but a Weeknd-approved short film for the track "The Knowing" is due to arrive soon. This news comes via a handful of hints dropped by director Mikael Colombu on his Facebook page. Colombu is a French filmmaker who previously directed Cee-Lo Green's "Bodies" clip.
There's no word as to when the new Weeknd video will drop, but on Tuesday (September 20), Colombu promised, "soon!"
He also shared a quirky animated gif of former Ethiopian leader Haile Selassie turning into Tesfaye. This is presumably taken from the video.
"The Knowing" is a strange choice of single, seeing as the Weeknd has released another mixtape since House of Balloons: the recently unveiled Thursday.
