For the fourth year running, soundtrack hub Waxwork Records is hitting up horror fiends with its subscription service, and the label has just revealed a pretty stellar lineup of releases for 2018. Among the titles are a double-LP release of Get Out, along with expanded anniversary editions of George A. Romero classics Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead.
Waxwork made its reveal today (November 22), stating that along with five deluxe vinyl releases on exclusive 180-gram coloured vinyl, subscribers will get "exclusive merchandise, a screen printed poster, an enamel pin, apparel, discounts, and incentives unavailable to the general public."
The titles revealed for the 2018 Waxwork Records subscription include:
● Night of the Living Dead 50th Anniversary Original Soundtrack 2xLP
● Dawn of the Dead 40th Anniversary Original Soundtrack 2xLP
● The 'Burbs Expanded Original Soundtrack 2xLP
● Drag Me to Hell Original Soundtrack Vinyl Debut
● Get Out Original Soundtrack Vinyl Debut 2xLP
As you'll notice, Waxwork will spend much of next year celebrating the late-great George A. Romero, who passed away earlier this year. The horror master's straight-up classic Night of the Living Dead, first released in 1968, will be getting its "definite and complete" soundtrack release for its 50th anniversary, coming as a 2-LP set that has been restored and remastered.
In addition, Romero's Dawn of the Dead follow-up from 1978 will be getting similar treatment. While exact details are not yet available, Goblin's classic score to the film will for the first time come as a deluxe double-LP set, which will contain the "complete score," new artwork, audio remastering and more.
This will also mark the first time the soundtrack to Jordan Peele's Get Out has been released on vinyl. It was penned by Michael Abels, and as Waxwork explains, "The score, with supervision by director Peele, is expertly crafted to capture a true, ominous sense of suspense and unease. Swahili chanting, bowed strings, and thrills throughout."
In addition, Christopher Young's score to director Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell will get its debut on wax, as well as Jerry Goldsmith's expanded soundtrack to Joe Dante's beloved Tom Hanks cult-horror-comedy The 'Burbs.
Along with all the actual vinyl, the subscription offers these perks:
● T-Shirt
● Waxwork Coffee Mug
● 18″ x 24″ Screen Printed Poster
● Screen Printed Notebook
● Waxwork Magnet
● 2018 Waxwork Wall Calendar
● Secret Enamel Pin
● 10% Discount on Waxwork products throughout 2018
● Entry to win a brand new U-Turn Audio Orbit Special Turntable ($500 value)
The 2018 subscription goes on sale on Black Friday (November 24), costing $250 USD for U.S. residents and $285 USD for everyone else. You can get more info about it here.
