Toronto's Wavelength Winter Festival — now in its 22nd year — is reshaping as an online speaker series for 2022, and today it's revealed the lineup of guests for its latest edition.
Available to watch for free on YouTube each Wednesday evening, the theme of this year's Wavelength Winter Festival: Speaker Series is community care. It'll feature a keynote speech from Canadian folk icon Buffy Sainte-Marie, plus artist talks from Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Maylee Todd (otherwise known as MALOO), and a conversation between musician/academic Casey Mecija and musician/producer Radwan Ghazi Moumneh.
The festival also includes a screening of an original film by multi-hyphenate Sook-Yin Lee & Hot Garbage's Dylan Gamble. The series will be livetsreamed at 7 p.m. ET every Wednesday between March 2 and 30. The entirety of the series is free and all-ages.
Last year's festival also featured Glenn-Copeland, plus appearances from Backxwash, Hannah Georges, Witch Prophet, the OBGMs and more. Its aim was to spotlight "Black Canadian artists who are making invaluable contributions to the music community."
