Ahead of new album Everyone's Crushed arriving in May, Water from Your Eyes — the art-pop project of Rachel Brown and Nate Amos — have further expanded their already-extensive 2023 tour schedule and are celebrating with the release of latest LP preview "True Life." Notably, there's a new Toronto date set for this summer.
Water from Your Eyes are currently on tour of the US and have some shows to play overseas this summer. To effectively cap off their months on the road (for now, anyway), the duo will perform at Toronto's Baby G on June 27. Bookending that, they have additional Canadian festival dates at Calgary's Sled Island on June 24 and Montreal's POP Montreal on September 30.
Tickets go on sale this Friday (April 14).
"'True Life' is our Neil Young-inspired quasi-nu metal stomp," Brown and Amos said of the new song. "It is also intended to be our 'Short Skirt / Long Jacket.' The bridge was initially meant to contain lyrics from 'Cinnamon Girl,' but Neil Young's lawyers wouldn't let us use them. Now they are about how Neil Young wouldn't let us use his words. The rest of the song deals with life and assorted complications of the material world."
