What's in a name? The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place at Toronto's Massey Hall on Saturday (September 24), and there were plenty of vintage CanCon moments to go around. Joining in on the fun was Olivia Rodrigo, who became an honorary Canadian for the night as she inducted Alanis Morissette into the hall of fame with a heartfelt speech.

"Alanis captures the anger, the grief and the love of the human experience better than anyone. Her songs unite people, empower people and help them heal," Rodrigo said to the crowd. "Alanis, you are a trailblazer, and you have inspired an entire generation of uncompromising, radically honest songwriting — but even more than your long list of musical achievements, I look up to your character and kindness most of all."

On top of Rodrigo's speech, Morissette was honoured with a cover of "Hand in My Pocket" by Alessia Cara, as well as tributes from Serena Ryder and Jessie Reyez

Bryan Adams, Jim Vallance, David Foster and Daniel Lavoie were inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame alongside Morissette this year. Their inductions also inspired some quintessentially Canadian performances, including Corey Hart covering Adam's "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" and "Straight from the Heart." Nickelback members Chad Kroeger and Ryan Peake also joined in on the fun, covering "Summer of '69," which was co-written by Adams and Vallance.

Watch both Rodrigo's and Morissette's speeches, as well as some other highlights from the induction ceremony, below.
