Olivia Rodrigo Will Induct Alanis Morissette into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame

Alessia Cara, JP Saxe and Ruby Waters will also be on hand for a tribute performance

It was announced this spring that Alanis Morissette would (ahem, finally) be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022. In addition to David Foster and Daniel Lavoie joining the inductees, some more decidedly not-so-brutal news sees that Olivia Rodrigo will honour Morissette — one of her own musical idols — by presenting her with the induction.

"I remember hearing Alanis for the first time when I was about 13," Rodrigo shared in a statement. "I was in the car with my parents when Jagged Little Pill came on. I heard 'Perfect,' I was like, 'Oh, my God… You can write songs like that?' I just looked at music and songwriting in a completely different way."

This won't be the first time the two purveyors of angst have teamed up, either: they appeared together on the cover of Rolling Stone last October, and Morissette joined Rodrigo for a duet of "You Oughta Know" at her Los Angeles show on May 24.

The reunion will take place September 24 at Toronto's Massey Hall, where Rodrigo brought out Avril Lavigne for a performance of "Complicated" back in April.

Rodrigo's fellow Grammy's Best New Artist titleholder Alessia Cara will pay tribute to Morissette alongside JP Saxe and Ruby Waters. Other inductees-to-be, Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, will be honoured with performances by Corey Hart and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger and Ryan Peake.

Hosted by Marie-Mai, the gala will see additional performances by Morissette herself, as well as Jessie Reyez, Charlotte Cardin, Serena Ryder and more. Final remaining tickets for the star-studded affair are available here.
