Daniel Caesar has unveiled the first song he ever wrote in a newly-resurfaced clip of his April interview on CBC's Q with Tom Power.
The Toronto R&B singer recalled that he wrote about "just girls" early on in his songwriting journey, and his first track's origins date back to when he was attending high school in Oshawa.
"The first one was this song called 'Shy That Way,'" he revealed. "I had a crush on this girl and I was shy, too shy to tell her. So, I just made a song."
When Power asked him how the song went, Caesar obliged by lightly singing his way through the ditty. After scatting his way to the finish line, he said that he never ended up bringing it to the studio — but might soon.
"Now I'm listening, and I'm like, 'that might be a hit,'" he laughed. "I might have to record that now."
