Voivod Detail 'The Wake' Album

At long last, Quebec metal heroes Voivod have pulled back the curtain on their upcoming album. While we already knew the LP would be called The Wake, it's now been revealed the record will arrive on September 21 via Century Media Records.

The Wake marks Voivod's 14th studio album and first since 2013's Target Earth. However, the band did release the Post Society EP in 2016.

Once again, the album's artwork was created by Voivod drummer Michel "Away" Langevin, and you can see his creation above.

In a statement about the new album, Voivod guitarist Daniel "Chewy" Mongrain" said, "It is with great enthusiasm and pride that we will soon share with you the fruit of two years of labour in the form of an intricate, intense and colourful journey with our new album The Wake, expanding the boundaries of Voivod's multiverse!"

Langevin also previously said this of the new album: "The music is like a futuristic prog thrash metal trek with many twists and turns, and the story involves the usual Voivodian topics: disasters, chaos, conflicts, strange plots and alternate consciousness. We are excited with the result and can't wait to get the material out to you this fall!"

The first single from The Wake is expected out on July 20. For now, you can also see the tracklist below.

1. Obsolete Beings
