Ahead of a European tour celebrating their 35 years of music-making, Quebec metal icons Voivod have shared details behind their 14th studio album.
The four-piece are set to deliver a new album titled The Wake this September through Century Media Records. The album marks the band's proper full-length follow-up to 2013's Target Earth, having last released EP Post Society in 2016.
"The music is like a futuristic prog thrash metal trek with many twists and turns, and the story involves the usual Voivodian topics: disasters, chaos, conflicts, strange plots and alternate consciousness," drummer Michel Langevin revealed in a statement. "We are excited with the result and can't wait to get the material out to you this fall!"
Langevin added that the band's forthcoming tour of Europe will be "a great opportunity for the band to test some songs from our upcoming album."
Ahead of their European trek, Voivod will play select North American festivals, including Heavy Montreal.
