Ontario metal duo Vile Creature have shared a cover of Kittie's "Paperdoll," as part of The Flenser's upcoming nu-metal covers compilation Send the Pain Below, released via the label's vinyl subscription service.
The cover is a pummeling, throat-shredding reimagining of Kittie's uncharacteristically quiet track.
About the cover choice, Vile Creature said, "Kittie is a band that trailblazed, both by bucking metal gender norms and being from southern Ontario. It was a no-brainer for us to cover this, the only non-heavy song from their debut record, and we can only hope we did them justice. Long live Kittie!"
Vile Creature's "Paperdoll" follows Wreck and Reference's cover of Deftones' "Change (in the House of Flies)" and Chat Pile's rendition of Sepultura's "Roots Bloody Roots."
Vile Creature's last album was 2020's Glory, Glory! Apathy Took Helm! and most recently, the duo remixed Backxwash's "Spells."
