'A Fat Comp: A Fan-Made Tribute to Fat Wreck Chords' (album stream)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 27, 2015

Fat Wreck Chords' 25th anniversary celebrations aren't limited to their roster-highlighting tour, or, as it would seem, their own devices. A group of pop-punk lovin' bands have picked some of their Fat favourites for a new tribute comp called, what else, A Fat Comp.

Despite the artwork, Dallas' Dang! Record clarifies that the fan-made compilation is not the official soundtrack to the forthcoming A Fat Wreck: The Punk-U-Mentary film. That said, it does find 30 acts putting their own spin on punky tunes from throughout Fat Wreck Chords' history.

Among the massive tracklist, you'll find four Propagandhi covers, six new attempts at Lagwagon's back catalogue, and an arsenal of redone No Use for a Name numbers. More surprising are covers of Bracket's "2Rak005" from both NO Matter and Mikey Erg and Scotty Sandwiche, and a male-sung version of Bay Area unit Tilt's "Libel."

The album is available as a free download on Bandcamp, and can be streamed down below. It is also being offered up as a double 12-inch release if you contribute $50 or more to A Fat Wreck's Indie-Go-Go campaign.

As previously reported, Fat's "Fat Wrecked for 25 Years" tour features NOFX, Lagwagon, Swingin' Utters and more, and kicks off in Toronto on August 6. You'll find more info about the tour routing over here.
