Charged with warming up the crowd before rising hometown MC Jazz Cartier and chart-dominating duo Rae Sremmurd, New Jersey DJ, producer, and vocalist Cherise Gary was more than up to the task, playing a mix of Jersey club, hip-hop, and house. To help get bodies moving, she was accompanied by two dancers, who gyrated to the high-BPM tracks.
While she played plenty of current radio anthems (Fetty Wap, the Weeknd) and staples (Ginuwine's "Pony," R. Kelly's "Ignition (Remix)," etc.), she put her own spin on the songs, chopping vocals and adding plenty of kick drum and bass (one highlight of the set being a frenetic remix of Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money"). Toward the end, she got in front of her booth to rap (she recently provided vocals for New York producer Brenmar's single "Hula Hoop") before inviting girls from the audience to dance onstage.
