The coronavirus has not been kind to live music venues, and while many have shuttered completely, others are still hanging on by a thread. In that latter category is Toronto's Hard Luck Bar, whose owners have launched a fundraiser in attempts to stay afloat.

Via a new GoFundMe page, the venue is seeking to raise $35,000 to help with rent and other expenses incurred during the COVID-19 shut down. "Every attempt to pivot to another model just forces us to incur additional costs and invariably have ended with more lock down measures making any recovery impossible," a post reads.

"We are making the incredibly difficult decision of asking you to help us out," the post continues. "This was not an easy decision to come to, but we honestly don't see any way to maintain a space for live music when we're in a pandemic and restricted from doing what we went into business to do in the first place."
