The billion-dollar Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto — the country's largest casino — is scheduled to open to the public this summer. It's also set to feature a new 5,000-seat entertainment venue and has now inked an exclusive deal with Live Nation Canada to bring musicians and comedians to the intersection of Highways 401 and 427.

While little else is known about the new venue, and the acts to christen the stage have yet to be announced, according to a press release, the Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto is slated to open later this year.

Great Canadian Entertainment's new partnership with Live Nation extends from coast to coast, booking artists at the former company's other venues across the country — including the brand-new Arena at Pickering Casino Resort, River Rock Casino Resort, Hard Rock Casino Vancouver, Molson Canadian Centre at Casino New Brunswick and the Schooner Showroom at Casino Nova Scotia.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with Live Nation Canada, the premier live entertainment promoter in the world," Gavin Whiteley, chief marketing officer at Great Canadian Entertainment, said in a statement. "This partnership will bring some of the biggest and most exciting artists to our exceptional venues, providing guests with unforgettable experiences they will cherish for years to come."

The Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort is among a crop of shiny new venues to open in Toronto over the last few years, including TD Music Hall within the Massey Hall complex and, of course, Drake's History.

Even prior to the pandemic-related impacts on local performance spaces, countless have been shuttered in recent years thanks to redevelopmentrent increasesmunicipal regulations, noise complaints and more.
