The Women from Space Festival is once again bringing a talented, gender-diverse lineup of musicians to Toronto in celebration of International Women's Day this year.
Set to take place from March 8 to 10, the fest's sixth annual edition will be hosted by 918 Bathurst Centre's experimental music institution, the Music Gallery.
Toronto-based trumpet player Lina Allemano will team up with Mike Smith as Bloop to kickstart the festivities along with local interdisciplinary artist Morgan-Paige and Women from Space's house band, BIG BANG!, which will take on a compilation of tracks from Björk's legendary catalogue.
Saturday's slate of shows will be headlined by Indigenous artist Mali Obomsawin, who will be supported by a quartet that includes Vancouver-based drummer Mili Hong and Montreal-based multi-instrumentalist Allison Burik. MOCH and Toronto-based harpist Grace Scheele will also perform.
On the final day, Anh Phung, chiquitamagic and Emjay Wright will join forces, while Brooklyn-based musician Val Jeanty will team up with local dancer Nickeshia Garrick to support headliner Matana Roberts as they close out the fest.
Single-day tickets and weekend passes are available now at Women from Space's official website, where you can also find additional scheduling and lineup information.
