Toronto's TONE Festival returns for its sixth edition this month, and organizers have detailed the lineup taking part in this year's event.

The festival's 2024 programming includes performances by Wolf Eyes and Anthony Braxton, Caroline Davis & Wendy Eisenberg, Lee and Gamble Unlimited (Sook-Yin Lee and Hot Garbage's Dylan Gamble), Mas Aya, Colin Fisher, Lina Allemano, Evan Cartwright and more.

Running from June 13 to 26, TONE 2024 will be hosted in collaboration with various co-presenters across four beloved Toronto arts spaces: the Great Hall, the Music Gallery, Standard Time and the Tranzac Club. The fest was once again curated by Tad Michalak and Karen Ng.

TONE 2024 opens at the Music Gallery on June 13, presenting cultural theorist, poet and MacArthur Fellow Fred Moten in performance with New York improvising bassist Brandon Lopez. The evening, co-curated with Labyrinth Ontario as part of the Western and World Symposium, also features Lee and Gamble Unlimited, and Korean composer and Gayageum musician Roa (HyunYoung) Lee.

June 16 welcomes both Mas Aya and Colin Fisher to the Tranzac to celebrate respective new releases from the artists, who have long played together as Not the Wind, Not the Flag. On July 12, Mas Aya's Coming and Going arrives via Telephone Explosion Records, while Fisher's Suns of the Heart lands via We Are Busy Bodies.

TONE will explore saxophone and songwriting on June 23 at Standard Time, with saxophonist Caroline Davis and guitarist Wendy Eisenberg performing songs from their new collaborative LP Accept When. The evening will also mark the Toronto debut of French saxophonist Sakina Abdou, while Evan Cartwright will perform a set of tape deck based, field recording-inspired songs. This evening is co-presented by Music Gallery with curator Sara Constant.

The final show of TONE 2024 will welcome Anthony Braxton and Wolf Eyes to the Great Hall on June 26. After their first chance meeting and performance in 2005 at FIMAV Victoriaville, the free jazz pioneer and Detroit noise duo have only performed a handful of concerts together — this date being one of them. The evening will open with a solo trumpet set by Lina Allemano.
