Torche Get Their Own Videogame

Though it's a 2D one, Floridian stoner-pop punishers Torche are ready to save the world from an automaton uprising in a new videogame. If you're looking to help out humanity, the band's Torche vs Robots: Annihilation Affair is online now.

A press release explains that the old-school side-scroller features spritely versions of the quartet on a quest "to save Miami from becoming a post-apocalyptic wasteland." As it's explained in the game's opening screens, bloodthirsty robots are running amok, and "the only chance for survival are the members of Torche and their blasters." As a bonus, the game is scored by music from Torche's upcoming Relapse Records debut, Restarter, which lands in record stores and retailers February 24.

You can test out the game, which has you dashing through various settings, collecting orbs and zapping baddies, over here. While currently available as a desktop adventure, a mobile edition is reportedly on the way.

Torche has a big batch of tour dates supporting Restarter that start up in March, and will have the act coming through Montreal and Toronto. You'll find the full details here.
