Jane Penny – the lead singer (and oftentimes face) of Montreal synthpop greats TOPS — has teased her solo debut, posting a cryptic teaser video on Instagram.
"This year I will be sharing my solo music for the first time," Penny wrote in the caption. "Here is the prologue to something very special, you'll have the keys soon."
The clip sees the artist photographing, and seemingly spying on, another version of herself in a park while ambient music plays ominously. A short-haired Penny carries a gold bell with her keys, and leaves a paperback book for her stalker self to find.
Penny is far from the first member of TOPS — who released their most recent music as a group, an EP called Empty Seats, in 2022 — to step out on her own, with the band's Marta Cikojevic having released her self-titled solo debut as Marci that same year.
