Following the release of his 2019 debut album Still, Brampton rapper TOBi has shared a brand new single with British producer Juls. Their collaboration on "Dollas and Cents" marks the first release from TOBi since signing to Same Plate Entertainment/RCA Records.
The duo bring immense chemistry to their new track, which celebrates both artist's diverse diasporic lineage. You can listen to it down below.
"Juls is one of my favourite producers right now," TOBi said of working with the producer. "We linked up at the end of last year and the chemistry was instant! This song is really bridging that diaspora connection, Nigeria to Ghana to U.K. to Canada. It's a beautiful thing to tap into our African roots musically."
TOBi's collabs just keep coming, it seems, as "Dollas and Cents" follows the release of his "24 (Toronto Remix)" video, which featured homegrown favourites including Haviah Mighty, Shad, Jazz Cartier and Ejji Smith.
Exclaim! named Still one of the 10 Most Underrated Albums of 2019. Last year, TOBi also spoke to us about mental health as a Canadian musician.
While he has yet to release a follow up to his debut album, he did share the record's deluxe edition, Still+, earlier this year. Stay tuned for more releases from the newly signed artist.
