There's a new official Tragically Hip documentary in the works. It's currently in development at Amazon Prime, with a projected release date of fall 2024.
The band announced the career-spanning documentary on stage at Amazon Prime Canada's media event at Massey Hall in Toronto. The project is being directed by late singer Gord Downie's brother Mike Downie, who appeared alongside guitarist Rob Baker, guitarist Paul Langlois and bassist Gord Sinclair. Tragically Hip drummer Johnny Fay wasn't present, but Downie mentioned that he was involved in the project.
In an interview with the Canadian Press, Downie called it the "definitive documentary" about the band. It will arrive as a four-part series.
Documentarian Mike Downie has directed numerous films over the years, including 2018's Finding the Secret Path, about Gord Downie's album Secret Path and the Charlie Wenjack Fund.
