After teasing a possible collaboration earlier this month, Mike Skinner's U.K. rap project the Streets and Tame Impala have unleashed a new song together, "Call My Phone Thinking I'm Doing Nothing Better." What's more, it will appear on a newly announced Streets mixtape, cheerfully titled None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive.
The 12-track mixtape arrives on July 10 via Island and features a number of guest spots, including IDLES, Ms Banks and more. As far as the Tame Impala-assisted lead single goes, Skinner noted in a statement that the way his writing has changed in the decade reflects a cultural shift in favour of virtual locations over physical.
Here's what he had to say about the new track:
One thing I've ended up doing is talking about being on my phone. It was very easy on my first album to say, well: where am I? I'm in a pub. I'm at home. I'm in a betting shop. I'm getting a kebab. It felt fairly straightforward and no one had really written about it. Whereas when making this record, everything now basically happens on your phone.
None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive marks the first release from the Streets since 2011's Computers and Blues.
