Way back in 2011, we learned that Reeve Carney would be starring in a Jeff Buckley biopic. Now a good decade later, the long-in-the-works film is finally making progress.
The film has now got the title of Everybody Here Wants You, and it will mark the directorial debut from producer Orian Williams, Variety reports. The publication has also confirmed Carney is indeed set to star as the late musician, who drowned in 1997 at the age of 30.
Everybody Here Wants You is being made by Culmination, whose Tom Butterfield will produce alongside Buckley's mother, Mary Guibert, and Alison Raykovich, manager of his estate and VP of Jeff Buckley Music.
"This will be the only official dramatization of Jeff's story which I can promise his fans will be true to him and to his legacy," Guibert said in a statement. "Thankfully, my determination to assemble all the right participants, no matter how long it took, is about to culminate in the best way possible."
While the Jeff Buckley biopic will mark the first directorial project from Williams. he has produced such films as Control about Joy Division's Ian Curtis, as well as Shadow of the Vampire and Yellow Rose. He is also producing the upcoming Creation Stories biopic about the famed Creation Records.
"I'm honoured to have the opportunity to step into the director's seat to tell Jeff's story," Williams said in a statement. "Dionne Jones' beautiful script brings together all the elements of Jeff's life into one intimate and visual story."
Filming will finally start this fall, though so far, no release date has been revealed.
