Reeve Carney Cast as Jeff Buckley in Upcoming Biopic

Following the news that Gossip Girl's Penn Badgely was cast as Jeff Buckley in the upcoming film Greetings From Tim Buckley, the casting notes have been revealed for the other Buckley-related film. The biopic, which doesn't have a name just yet, will see actor Reeve Carney portraying the fallen rocker.

Does the name Reeve Carney sound familiar to you? It will if you've been paying attention to U2's rocky Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, as Carney plays the leading role as the webslinger himself. How that will translate in the Buckley film is yet to be seen.

The Jeff Buckley biopic is being directed by Welcome to the Rileys director Jake Scott, with a script from The Rocker writer Ryan Jaffe. The project will have full access to Buckley's personal archive, and features the singer's mother Mary Guibert as executive producer.

In a statement, Guiber said, "We are over the moon that Reeve has agreed to take on this challenging role. I've seen him perform several times… he's been getting ready for this all his life. It certainly doesn't hurt that he looks so much like Jeff."
