The Backhomes

"Solid Gold" (video)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Mar 17, 2016

Nearing the one-year anniversary of their Tidalwave, Victoria psych duo the Backhomes have unleashed a flood of visuals for the record's distortion-drenched standout, "Solid Gold."

Scored by a blur of shoegaze guitar work, Suicide-smooched digi-drums and 'tude-oozing vocals, the video mixes together a bunch of sights. This includes a pile of dancing skeletons, an arachnid-looking mirror image presentation of oil-pumping projects and more.

The band's Aimée van Drimmelen explained in a statement:

The video is a lo-fi collage of found footage (including '90s night vision footage of burning oil fields in Iraq, a Commodore 64 videogame, and oil derricks pumping), mixed with hand drawn animation by myself and psychedelic video feedback fx by Matt Krysko. The theme is pretty self explanatory.

You'll find the loaded visuals below, where you'll also find info on the Backhomes' upcoming run of BC dates and a European tour supporting Black Mountain.
