Shania Twain Honours Country-Pop "Trailblazer" Dolly Parton in "Mama Said" TikTok Challenge

Twain responded to a shout-out from Taylor Swift

Earlier this week, Taylor Swift posted a video as part of the "Mama Said" TikTok challenge — where creators share how they've broken a barrier or tried something new, set to Lukas Graham's 2014 single "Mama Said" — that honoured Shania Twain's legacy as a country-pop innovator.

Twain herself got involved today by responding to Swift with a video dedicated to the queen of country and the universe in general, Dolly Parton, therefore effectively laying out the modern country-pop lineage.

"I appreciate you!" Twain wrote to Swift in the video's caption, adding, "Paying this one forward to another trailblazer."

Incorporating Swift's original video, the TikTok features several shots of Parton being cool, plus a few of Parton and Twain together, labelled with Swift's original prompt, "country girls can't go pop."

And so the legacy of country singers turned zeitgeist-dominating pop stars lives on, stronger than ever.

Check out Twain's and Swift's TikToks below.
