Former Halifax residents Sari and Romy Lightman (formerly known as the Ghost Bees) have been honing their craft in Toronto since last year as Tasseomancy, with some of that city's finest musicians, such as Timber Timbre (who they just released a split seven-inch with), lending a hand. They talked about embracing "folk metal" at a Halifax show last summer, and while that's not quite their new sound, Tasseomancy's folk songs have developed something heavier and more intense, with classical guitars replaced by reverb-drenched electric ones. Other than that, Tasseomancy's new songs reflect the same haunting mythological slant, with long, winding odes to changelings and goddess of the hunt Diana. The Lightman sisters are continually growing as performers and it's always a treat to see them return to their former home base.
