Talib Kweli Announces Gutter Rainbows Release Date

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 18, 2010

Back in September, Talib Kweli teased us with the announcement of his new LP, Gutter Rainbows, via his Twitter account. As cool as that was, dude didn't really offer up too many details at the time. Maybe it's just because he was crazy busy, considering his participation in the Reflection Eternal project with Hi-Tek, among other things. Lately, though, the hip-hopper is getting more generous with the deets on his new disc.

Earlier this week (November 16), the artist hit up his Twitter once again and pointed to first single "Cold Rain," a powerful joint full of gospel-soul backups and hard-hitting piano plunks produced by Ski Beatz. The song can be heard below.

Now, Pitchfork reports that Gutter Rainbows will be released January 25 courtesy of Kweli's brand new Talibra imprint. While a full tracklisting still hasn't been provided, the album reportedly also feature cuts produced by S-1, M-Phazes, Shuko, Blaqthoven, KHRYSIS!, Maurice Brown, E. Jones, Nick Speed and Ty Neg.

Interestingly, Gutter Rainbows will be a digital-only release in North America, but will be available in other formats around the world.
