It's that time of year again: SXSW has announced the first round of artists set to perform at its 38th edition in Austin, TX, next year. Taking place from March 11 to 16, 2024, at eccentric venues across the city, the festival strives to highlight emerging talent from around the world — and Canada is no exception.

In addition to performances from global risers like Dry Cleaning, cumgirl8 and They Are Gutting a Body of Water, Canadian acts Kiwi Jr., Housewife, Peach LuffeLiving Hour, Luge, Winona Forever, Le Couleur, La Sécurité, Hot Garbage, Sorry Girls, Sam Tudor, Arielle Soucy, Boogey the Beat and C.Diab are slated for showcases.

Musicians can still apply to be considered for showcases until October 27. Back in February, over 120 artists signed an open letter calling for fair pay from the festival. SXSW responded in June, "quietly" increasing performer wages for the 2024 iteration.

However, this only met one of the musicians' four demands, which also included ending application fees, providing festival wristbands for performers, and providing the same (additional) compensation-wristband deal to international artists and domestic US artists.

Check out the full first round of SXSW showcasing artists here, and stay tuned for additional lineup announcements to come.
