Sumac Team Up with Keiji Haino for New Collaborative Album

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Nov 23, 2017

Sumac are already set to ring in 2018 with Converge and Cult Leader on tour, and the band have now announced that a collaborative album with Japanese experimental legend Keiji Haino will arrive in the new year.

Titled American Dollar Bill - Keep Facing Sideways, You're Too Hideous to Look at Face On (yes, really), the LP will arrive February 23 through Thrill Jockey. The five-track albm was recorded in summer 2017 over "a series of unrehearsed, completely non-premeditated sessions."

Cut to several reels of tape, American Dollar Bill "pushes and pulls at the strictures of metal and bends towards improvised music to create a sonic purge unencumbered by convention."
