SUMAC Detail Third Collaborative Album with Keiji Haino, Map Out North American Tour

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Aug 3, 2022

SUMAC and Keiji Haino have lifted the curtain on their third collaborative album. The metal trio and the Japanese avant-garde icon will share Into This Juvenile Apocalypse Our Golden Blood to Pour Let Us Never on October 7 via Thrill Jockey.

The six compositions which make up Into This Juvenile Apocalypse were recorded on May 21, 2019, at Vancouver's Astoria Hotel during a short North American tour for Haino.

The one-off performance is said to capture equipment failures and "technical handicaps of recording in a dingy hotel dive bar" in its unfiltered and undoctored state, along with the spontaneous brilliance the players have exhibited across two prior LPs.

SUMAC — the trio of Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom, Mamiffer), Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists), and Brian Cook (Russian Circles, These Arms Are Snakes) — have also announced an August North American tour that features Canadian dates in Toronto and Montreal alongside labelmates Big Brave and Asheville, NC-based guitarist Tashi Dorji. You can find their complete 2022 itinerary below.

Into This Juvenile Apocalypse follows SUMAC and Haino's 2019 release Even for just the briefest moment Keep charging this "expiation" Plug in to make it slightly better. The artists' first collaborative release, American Dollar Bill - Keep Facing Sideways, You're Too Hideous to Look at Face On, arrived in 2017.

SUMAC's most recent standalone release is 2020's May You Be Held
