Stream Daniel Isaiah's New Album 'Only One Left'

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Nov 26, 2018

Daniel Isaiah's Only One Left has been a long time in the making, but it's finally finished and will be released at the end of the week. Exclaim!, however, is giving you a chance to hear the LP in its entirety right now.

The Montreal singer-songwriter started working on the album back in 2016, in the final weeks of his mother's life. Despite its sad beginnings, the album was completed and mastered just the day before one of his happiest memories — his wedding.

In that span of time, he travelled to Turkey, Greece, Israel, England, France and the Netherlands, often with the Nord synthesizer on which he composed most of the new songs.

As such, Only One Left is an album of juxtapositions; it's about both sad endings and joyous beginnings, and about his hometown of Montreal and the places he's travelled to.

"Two years ago I bought a synthesizer on a whim," Isaiah tells Exclaim! "I didn't know how to play it, but I learned. You start with the most basic unit of sound, a wave, and you go from there. So I found myself back at the very beginning. And the process of making music was new to me again."

Hear the results of his refreshed approach to making music by streaming Only One Left below. The album is officially out on November 30.
