Spooky Ruben

The globetrotting Canuck lands back in friendly surroundings with a new band to flesh out his off-kilter pop rock offerings. Stripped bare of all but the instruments and his voice, Ruben’s gigs still manage to captivate with hints of what modern alt-rock could be if only everyone was as willing to get a little creative with their chord structures and lyrics. Playing a mix of very new and very old (the well-received set closer “Running Away”), Ruben shows he’s still got plenty left to give when he wants to. Bonus points for attempting Rush’s “Anthem.”
