Following the death of Canadian punk legend, SNFU's Chi Pig, Edmonton punk fans are organizing to fund a new mural dedicated to the late artist in the city.

Mural artist Lacey Wilburn — who has organized a GoFundMe fundraiser — is teaming up with Ken Chinn's family ambassador, along with his close friend and personal photographer Jerry Cordeiro of the Human Experience for the project, which is still in search of the "perfect wall for his tribute" in Edmonton.

At the time of reporting, the GoFundMe has raised $6,500 of its $9,500 goal. Organizers hope to also obtain grants from the city of Edmonton, as well as the Alberta province for additional funds. Though, according to the fundraiser website, organizers "will make this mural happen" with or without the government's help.

"Edmonton's beloved bastard child, Chi Pig, frontman for the legendary punk rock band SNFU is leaving behind a legacy of chaos, energy and brilliance that can never truly be witnessed again," the fundraiser reads. "Growing up as little punk brats in Edmonton, no performance has ever rivalled that first time seeing Society No F***king Use live.

"We want to pay tribute to this monumental character with an equally monumental mural to celebrate the life, music and electricity of our hometown hero."

Chinn passed away on July 16 at the age of 57. In addition to the proposed mural, fans have also launched a petition to add the frontman's name to Canada's Walk of Fame, which has already garnered over 10,000 signatures.

Since his death, dozens of music industry figures have come forward with tributes, including Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, as well as members of Fucked Up, Sloan, NOFX, Fishbone and more.
