Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong Sends "Love to All the Edmonton and Vancouver Punks" in Chi Pig Tribute

Last night, the news emerged that legendary punk frontman Chi Pig of the band SNFU had died at the age of 57. Although his legacy was already solidified, a series of tributes to the late performer demonstrate just how influential he really was.

After forming SNFU in Edmonton in the early '80s, Chi and the band had an on-and-off again career until recent years. In that time, they toured the world and amassed a large fan base for their blistering skate punk — bolstered, in particular, by Chi's inimitable stage presence.

A testament to his unforgettable talent, tributes to Chi Pig have rolled in from the likes of Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Fucked Up's Damian Abraham, Sloan, Bif Naked, NOFX and many more.

Oh man. This breaks my heart. Chi Pig was one of the greatest front people I've ever seen. I saw SNFU at Gilman when I was 16. I thought he was going to jump through the ceiling. Super smart. Great lyrics. Amazing album titles. So funny. He had an amazing mask collection. lead singer for SNFU. What a bummer. Sending love to all the Edmonton and Vancouver punks.
