Great Lake Swimmers offshoot Siskiyou (a collaboration between former drummer Colin Huebert and current GLS member Erik Arensen) have grasped ownership of their distinct sound with fearless resolve. They've forged a record that is as demure and fierce as the Sasquatch they've chosen for the CD's cover art. Describing their music as "organic," the duo have deliberately arranged their songs to reflect that philosophy, both in their song making process and in the final result of the tracks. You can almost imagine them, basket in hand, trekking through the very forests of Northern California ― across the Siskiyou mountain range they've named themselves after ― to gather naturally created, harmonious timbers, with all their richness and chaos intact. Huebert and Arensen recorded these in vivo nuggets while living in British Columbia and deftly arranged them to complement their affecting lyrics and simple guitar strums. With gentle, just shy of dramatic, abandon, the Sasquatch, er, Siskiyou reign supreme over the album's organic density of sound.
