Reggae star Lucky Dube was killed Thursday (October 18) in Rosettenville, Johannesburg when he was carjacked after dropping off his two children at their uncles house. Police say the son of South Africas biggest reggae artist saw the crime take place and ran to get help, and so far five men have been arrested in connection with Dubes murder.
Lucky Dube recorded more than 20 albums in his 20-plus year career, the latest of which was last years Respect. He was given the name "Lucky due to his poor healthy upon birth, and led a teetotallers lifestyle, despite claiming kinship to Rastafarianisms political, social and personal consciousness. He is survived by his wife Zanele and their seven children. Lucky Dube was 43.
