Having recently come off of their fourth album, Canadian metal outfit Protest the Hero knew they were ready for a change. With a mutual understanding that they still wanted to create new music, they also knew that a full album wasn't yet in the cards, and were looking to settle somewhere in between. When we met with the band's guitarist, Luke Hoskin on Exclaim! TV Aggressive Tendencies to discuss some of the band's latest endeavours, he told us they found their answer.
Starting in October of last year, the band launched an innovative subscription-based digital EP called Pacific Myth, which you can read more about here. Hoskin notes that unlike the refining process of highly tailored albums, the quick releases have kept the pressures high and the creativity flowing, allowing for a much faster and more candid experience for the band and fans alike.
The group have been steadily living up to their promise of delivering one song a month to subscribing members since launching the project last fall. The sixth and final track of the project is set to appear on March 15, marking the end of their latest exploit.
Watch Hoskin discuss the project in the exclusive interview below.
