The 12-track debut from New Jersey's Plugspark Sanjay threw me back about 12 years to the glory days of SST Records when bands like Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. released their most vital work (Sister and Bug respectively). Obviously influenced by those agit-pop legends, and in turn their major influence, Neil Young, this quartet strikes a daring balance between blurting amplifier noise and hum, throbbing guitars, offbeat tempos and delicious pop hooks.
