Seminal indie rock group the Pixies have spent much of 2013 going through bassists named Kim, hiring and quickly firing the Muffs' Kim Shattuck after she replaced original bassist Kim Deal earlier this year. Now, however, they've hired another replacement in Paz Lenchantin, who will serve as the band's "touring bassist."
Lenchantin is probably best known as the former bassist for A Perfect Circle, though she's also played bass and/or done string arrangements for Brightback Morning Light, Melissa Auf Der Mar, Jenny Lewis, Queens of the Stone Age, Silver Jews, Zwan and others.
"We are really looking forward to playing with her on these dates," Pixies drummer David Lovering said in a statement. "Working with different bass players is very new for the band, but we're having a great time doing it."
With Paz on board, the band will be able to complete their hefty 2014 tour schedule. You can see the North American dates below and the band's international schedule here.
In addition to hiring some new clientele, the band have also shared an animated video for new single "Another Toe in the Ocean," which can be streamed below.
