Pixies

'Head Carrier' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 22, 2016

In the lead-up to Pixies' latest LP Head Carrier, frontman Black Francis has opened up about his friendly relationship with past bandmate Kim Deal and also shared his support for current bandmate Joey Santiago, as the guitarist recently entered rehab. It may not have been the smoothest road to release, but the new album is ready to land next week.

We've already heard singles "Um Chagga Lagga" and "Talent," but now you can stream the album in its entirety. As previously reported, the band spent longer than usual on this latest effort, spending a full six weeks in pre-production, writing, arranging and rehearsing the songs before starting to lay them down. It allowed the band to get to know each new track "backwards and forwards," which is exactly what you can do yourself in the player below [via NPR].

Head Carrier is officially out on September 30 through Pixiesmusic/Play It Again Sam.

UPDATE (9/22, 12:25 p.m. EDT): You now unfortunately need an American IP address to listen to the stream.
