Montreal-based musician Patrick Watson recently impressed with his Love Songs for Robots album, and fans were primed for another North American tour from the hard-working artist. A wrench has been thrown into at least some of his plans, however, as he's been forced to cancel his Calgary Folk Music Festival appearance this weekend.
The news was confirmed by the festival's Kerry Clarke. Speaking with Exclaim!, she said, "Due to unfortunate health issues, Patrick Watson has had to cancel. We are disappointed he won't be able to perform at this year's festival, but we are excited that we are able to present Shakey Graves on the mainstage. We are offering refunds to Thursday single day ticket holders, until Wednesday at 5 p.m. at our office."
While Watson has yet to make an official statement, the Calgary Herald reported on Twitter that the cancellation was "due to an attack of laringytis [sic] and pneumonia."
Here's hoping Watson is better in time to perform at Montreal's Osheaga Festival. As you'll see in the tour dates below, there's also a nice big gap between his Edmonton and Vancouver shows in October, so it's likely that he'll be able to reschedule a Calgary show.
