New Order's Peter Hook Dishes On Freebass

Ex-Joy Division and possibly ex-New Order bassist Peter Hook has divulged information indicating the forward movement of his collaborative all-bass band Freebass. Since what Hook views as the end of New Order, the supergroup – featuring Stone Roses/Primal Scream bassist Mani and former Smiths bassist Andy Rourke - have been working on their debut album with a number of different vocalists.

The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess has just finished the first recording of vocals for the outfit and said that momentum is building quickly. Hook has said that Burgess’ contributions are "fucking great,” and announced that an impressive list of artists are also scheduled to contribute vocals to a future album including Ian Brown, Howard Marks, Pete Wiley, Ian McCulloch and Liam Gallagher.

"I think it’s always good to give something back and we’ve helped them in the past all of us; me and Mani have helped a lot of people and so has Andy Rourke, so it’s been nice to do,” says Hooky.

As for any further development with New Order, Hook has said there will be no more "new music” coming in the future, according to Gigwise.
