After removing his music from Spotify due to Joe Rogan's vaccine misinformation at the dawn of 2022, COVID-conscious legend Neil Young has announced another exodus from the website preferably known as Twitter.

In a new post on his Neil Young Archives website, the singer-songwriter shared that he and his team were ceasing use of "X(?)." In lieu of an explanation, Young said the departure was due to "reasons that should be obvious to the richest man on Earth," referring to the social media platform's new tyrannical overlord, Elon Musk. Below that, he included an image of the billionaire overlaid with the text, "Teslas should fly flags of love — not hate."

Young continued, "For our many Palestinian friends and our many Jewish friends, we do need to start over in the present and release our terrible connections to the past. As bad as they are, they need to be forgotten so we can be free to move on in life together, all humanity, focused on saving our planet for future generations of all people."

The artist has followed suit after a mass advertiser exodus from the social media platform took place over the weekend, with companies like Disney, Apple and Comcast leaving after a Media Matters report found that their ads on the site were being displayed alongside white nationalist posts. Musk also co-signed an antisemitic conspiracy theory in a recent X post, agreeing with a user's false claim that Jewish people were stoking hatred against white people.

Aside from a retweet about Barn in 2021, Young stopped using his personal Twitter account in 2019. However, the Neil Young Archives account has remained active up until now.
