There are few extreme metal vocalists more beloved than Barney Greenway, and with good reason. The Birmingham native is as dryly humorous and articulate when bantering with the crowd as he is positively unhinged while he is screaming, and his ability to swing between these extremes with ease and aplomb makes him always extraordinarily entertaining to watch.

Napalm Death were in extraordinary form for the final show of the day at the Baltimore soundstage, playing new material as well as deeply beloved tracks like "Suffer the Children" and "Dear Slum Landlord..." The crowd tossed around inflatable ghost balloons, glow sticks, a full garbage can and a walker (as well as quite a few people) and Barney led the crowd through a sing-along to their famous cover of the Dead Kennedys' "Nazi Punks Fuck Off."

This set perfectly encapsulated what is magical about Deathfest: the joyful, good-natured violence of it all.
