With My Morning Jacket fans still basking in the glow of this year's Circuital and its subsequent tour, the hirsute Southern rockers will be closing out their 2011 campaign with two new releases: a Christmas-themed iTunes Session EP and a seven-inch single.
The iTunes Session was recorded while the band were on tour in Amsterdam, and a press release notes that it includes "covers of your Christmas favourites" alongside a new tune called "Welcome Home" and a rendition of "Wonderful (the Way I Feel)" from Circuital. It features vocal cameos from members of the Head and the Heart.
This digital-only EP will arrive later today (December 6).
For those hoping for a MMJ-related treat of a more tangible variety, the Kentucky band will be dropping a limited-edition seven-inch single next week at select indie record shops. This includes the A-side "Friends Again," which was originally intended for The Muppets soundtrack, and the B-side "Outta My System (Alternate Universe Take)," which is presumably a different version of the song that appears on Circuital.
