With Lunar New Year celebrations getting underway this week, Toronto's own Mother Tongues are due to take part in the festivities by hosting a Year of the Snake party this Saturday, February 1, at Expo (1978 Dundas Street West).
They'll be joined by Sook-Yin Lee and Dylan Gamble's Lee & Gamble Unlimited, who are also celebrating the release of Paying for It and the pair's coinciding soundtrack album, which arrives on January 31 through Mint Records. Edmund Stay and Ancient Greece will also perform, and there will be a tattoo pop-up from Frankie Price.
"We're bringing in the year of the snake and highlighting some of the amazing Asian artists in Toronto's music scene," Mother Tongues tell Exclaim! "Mother Tongues will be performing material from our debut record, Love in a Vicious Way, and also testing out some new material. It's all going down at our favourite spot Expo 1978; we're playing on a mini-ramp. Wear something red!"
Tickets are available here for $22.50 plus fees. Check out the announcement below.
