Moon King's Daniel Benjamin seemed ready for his close-up at last night's (June 17) performance at the Horseshoe, a night in which both Benjamin and his band exploded on stage with tremendous energy. "Apocalypse" found the crowd transfixed on Benjamin as he stood tall with his mic stand on top of the speakers, pouring his oozy harmonies atop searing, knife-edge riffs that seemed to cut harder with every cymbal crash.

Benjamin expressed his gratitude to the cheering audience, who returned the love tenfold. Maddy Wilde shredded throughout, and though her eerie harmonics on "Secret Life" were a welcome respite, she returned with vigour on their momentous finale in which Benjamin wildly slapped drum pads and Wilde swung her blonde mane. The crowd was left speechless by the end of it, one of Moon King's best shows to date.
